The Meisner Approach, Book 1
An exclusive opportunity for high school and college actors ages 14-20
Service Description
We will shed new light on the craft of acting by learning acting fundamentals, creating believable characters, and learning how to read and interpret a script. Our goal is to provide students the tools to do this work independently, which is a requirement for audition preparation and earning lead roles. Class will meet Saturdays 2-4 pm and Sundays 3-5 pm. We understand this is a demanding time of year and continue to be flexible with schedules. In advance of each class, reading and notetaking is expected and required. Specific instructions for class materials and required reading will be sent upon enrollment. See or contact Erin for materials. This class is the first of a four-part training series leading into our dramatic one-act play this summer. Students interested in participating in the one act must have completed at least one Meisner book; training sessions from previous years count toward this requirement. *Scholarship funds are available upon request, please email erin@treehousetheater.com.* Meet your teaching team: Chris Andacht has been involved in over 80 shows as either a director or producer. A former theater teacher, he is a proud member of the Wisconsin High School Theater Hall of fame as a director, and the Jerry Musical Hall of Fame as a director. Many of Chris's students have gone on to work professionally and he cites the Meisner approach as the backbone of his actor's success. Erin Nycz, Treehouse Artistic Director and arts professional, knows firsthand how effective this approach is as she used portions of this method studying theater at UW-Madison and is excited to dive back into the deep end of acting!
