MAIN STAGE PRODUCTION
Family entertainment at its best - a bold, brassy show that will have the whole town buzzing!
"There’s trouble in River City!" Fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, arrives via train to River City, Iowa, at the turn of the century. Despite a complete lack of musical literacy, Hill plans to recruit and lead a boys band, but pocket the cash for instruments and uniforms on his way out of town. The problem? Town Major, School Board members and Marian, the starchy town librarian, don’t buy into his story. As Harold struggles to keep his scheme afloat, he finds himself increasingly attached to the townspeople, all of whom have all experienced a positive change since his arrival. Further complicating matters, Harold teaches Marian and the townspeople the joys of emotional risk as he falls head-over-heels for the librarian.
All-American music score features many well-known numbers, including "76 Trombones," "Trouble," "Wells Fargo Wagon," and "Shipoopi." This musical won eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Author, Composer and Lyricist.
